Payment Card Industry forms Security Standards Council

The Payment Card Industry (PCI) has formed a Security Standards Council. Founded by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa International, the council seeks to create an independent body to govern the security standards for the PCI.

The council has released PCI Data Security Standard Version 1.2.1 which can be downloaded here. Several of the requirements have changed, especially in the area of wireless security. In addition, the 1.2.1 Standard document is in a new format, including some of the information previously included in the auditor's guide.
