Payment Card Industry forms Security Standards Council

The Payment Card Industry (PCI) consists of a Security Standards Council founded by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa International.  The council was created to act as an independent body to govern the security standards for the PCI.

The council has released PCI Data Security Standard Version 2.0 which can be downloaded here.
